East Midlands Region Annual Conference 2nd July 2013
The Annual Regional Conference incorporating the AGM is to be held on Tuesday 2nd July 2013 at the Holiday Inn, Crick, Northamptonshire, Junction 18, M1. The theme this year is 'The Rich Tapestry of U3A'.
Election of a Regional Trustee
As we get well into our U3A year and as we are now within six months of The Third Age Trust’s National Conference and AGM, our minds need to turn to such things as the election of a Regional Trustee for the East Midlands for next year.
There may have been some lack of clarity on this subject in the past, so this document, prepared by present Regional Trustee, Michaela Moody and endorsed by Alan Morris, Chair of East Midlands Region of U3As, sets out the position very clearly.
This is a matter which concerns nearly all of us so please give this important document your careful attention and, in the event of any questions you may have, please do not hesitate to contact the East Midlands U3As secretary Gill Childs so that the matter can be taken up for you. Gill's email address is [email protected]
For more information on the regional conference see the East Midlands U3As website Events Section.

Workshop for Speaker Finders
At the October 2012 meeting of the Notts Network it was agreed that it would be helpful to hold a workshop for speaker finders. These people do a demanding job and it was felt that they would find it very useful to meet together to exchange notes on good speakers and how to find them. An informal workshop has been arranged for Friday 18th March 2013 at 10.30am in the conservatory at 'The Hutt' , Nottingham Rd, Ravenshead, NG15 9HJ. The workshop will finish by 12 noon but participants could stay on for lunch if they so wished. The Hutt is opposite the entrance to Newstead Abbey. We hope that speaker finders will attend whether they are very experienced or new to the job, so that experiences and ideas can be shared and everyone benefit. Speaker finders wishing to attend should email Jean Hogg directly at [email protected] giving their name and U3A.
